Namaste!
Thanks for joining me!
I’m Sydney Solis and I’m excited to launch this blog! If you’re reading this, it means you are as crazy about Japanese food as I am! I have been living in Osaka for a year now. Every day I learn more about the amazing food and how traditional Japanese food is so healthy for you!

Sweet mame, adzuki beans, in green tea vegan frozen popsickles! Healthy and nutritious!
I’m crazy about green tea and matcha. I love discovering new, amazing and nutritious fruits and vegetables and interesting ingredients all the time at my local supermarket, not to mention how my diet has shifted away from gluten and now I consume rice instead.
I’m thin, healthy and happy! I hope that you can reap the rewards of a traditional Japanese diet too!
Read about the benefits of the Japanese diet for health, longevity and to fight obesity! on my other blog, SydneyinOsaka about living the mindful life too! Follow me there too!
I’m even more excited that traditional Japanese food tends to be to vegan and vegetarian in this Buddhist country that believes in compassion and non-harming. As a teacher of yoga and a Buddhist, I’ve been mostly vegan/vegetarian for much of my life. I love the healthy benefits for my body, health and the environment!

The huge variety of miso at my local supermarket in Osaka, Japan. Japanese people are into where the miso came from, who made it, fine qualities like that! Food is art and life here!
I’m not opposed to a eating a bit of fish, as Japanese food includes fish, and it can be difficult to find food in Japan that doesn’t contain at least a bit of fish, such as in its dashi, soup-base.
However, traditional Japan cuisine is different from modern factory farming that hurts, alienates, disrespects the food supply and destroys the environment. The Japanese honor fish by eating different types of fish, just as they do fruits and vegetables, in season. And Japan is tofu and soy milk central with a fresh taste like nothing you’ve ever experienced!
Japan connects itself to the seasons and lives in harmony with nature. They are big into organic farming, simplicity and the aesthetics of mindful food presentation. Japanese culture is so connected to food, it’s a work of art! It’s a great way to eat and live! In fact, it makes you very happy!

An original recipe of mine using sesame dressing, goma, adzuki beans, cabbage, veggies, seaweed and more! Recipe coming up!
I will be writing about my favorite foods I discover at the supermarket, sharing the amazing food at restaurants I travel too, as well as share some of my original recipes on this site too, that are a fusion of East and West.
And did I mention I love gardening? Can’t wait to explore Japanese farms and gardens and find out more wonderful things about the traditional Japanese diet!
So may you be healthy! May you be happy! May you enjoy delicious Japanese food!
So thanks for joining me!
Kampai!
